About Us

VRP is a Texas-based R/C design and manufacturing company.  Owner and president, Mike Ankey, has been involved in Radio Control since the early 1980's. Early beginnings include buliding and flying rc model airplanes at the age of 6 and then seeing the birth of what we know as the RC Car Industry at 14 years old. He progressed in racing by being involved in the family owned Ohio RC Raceways, the first Indoor Offroad track in the Midwest. He TQ'd the 1989 ROAR 2WD Stock Nationals, TQ'd and Won the First 2 Midwest Indoor Champs and became the first Losi Sponsored Driver outside of Cali. Now, decades later, Ankey has teamed up with long time friend and driver, John Lawson to develop high quality R/C car parts and accessories. 

The first product has been years in the making as Ankey and Lawson have both been professional r/c car drivers at early ages and then both went on to be accomplished machinist and product developers. The 60+ years combined experience them make a dynamic combination. Their years of experience in Motorcycle racing has always challenged the 30 year old r/c car shock. Years of spirited conversation has yielded a truley unique product, the patent-pending 'X' Piston. And thats just the first one! 

Now into the Second Year, we have grown rapidly and have introduced the 'XV2' Piston. This version is refined to be stronger and adjusteable. With the addition on several new CnC machines, we are able to deliver a higher quality product with more advantages, which gives the racer a World Class product.
