Description
This is a pair of (2) Patented VRP ‘XV4’ Pistons. The pistons come with the Transition Valves (not installed). The Rebound booster hole has been precision drilled to the exact size our testing found to be the best ‘all around’ setting. This yields excellent results that are proven on a variety of track surfaces. From rough, blown out tracks, to smooth, indoor clay, the VRP Piston makes a positive difference and gives you a Big Advantage over the competition!
Each set of pistons comes with 4 different upper washers that are color coded. The washers are made to more or less cover the rubber valves to give different rebound rates. The Black washer gives the most rebound, Red is a little less rebound, Gold is slightly less rebound than the Red washer, and the Blue washer has zero rebound. For tracks that are loose and low grip, or very blown out with large ruts, more rebound is better. On smooth or tracks that have very high grip, less rebound is better. We suggest starting with the Black Washer in the rear pistons, and the Red Washer in the front pistons.
These VRP Pistons are designed for ‘LCG’ (low center gravity) buggies that have the shocks layed over. The main holes have been reduced to match up better to the shock angles these buggies have. When the shock is layed over, the leverage ratio changes dramatically. The shock has less leverage over the arm and needs to be stronger. Not only with the piston, but also the spring. We have listed a variety of new hole sizes that will be much better in these LCG buggies than traditional holes. And we suggest using the strongest spring from the manufacturer of each brand. This will increase the strength of the shock and match up better to the leverage ratio. As a note, you will find that the 20Hole and 22Hole LCG pistons will provide a better dampening range as they are able to have higher oils that will give much better jumping and landing pack, yet still be soft at neutral which makes the buggy easy to drive.
